Technovation Girls 2023
Global Quarterfinalist
-
app disguised as educational platform but secretly helps children identify, report, and escape domestic abuse
-
features include:
-
filling out a monthly form that is sent to a trusted adult or organization
-
interactive games to help recognize abuse
-
a map of nearby safe spots (hospitals, police stations, etc)
-
emergency calls
-

EcoThreads
HackBytes II 2023
-
website designed to allow users to list clothes for donation and exchange with other users, encouraging sustainable fashion
-
gamifies clothes exchange by displaying a leaderboard of how much water and cotton users have saved based on the number of clothes they've exchanged rather than throwing away

Earth's Final Hour
WaffleHacks 2023
-
simulation game made to educate children about how their actions impact the environment around them
-
users can move around the character and have them complete actions they would do in real life (eat food, drive to the grocery store, turn on lights, watch TV, change clothes, take a shower/bath, etc)
-
as the game progresses, the environment seen through the window slowly degrades from a thriving grassland to a smoke-filled land with damaging factories
-
once the player uses a certain amount of CO2 or water, the game is over and the user is encouraged to play again with more sustainable decisions

EcoPals
TritonHacks 2024
-
app designed for elementary school students to virtually "adopt" an endangered animal, earn points by caring for it, and use those points to customize their pet
-
users can play a mini game in which their animal faces threats in their habitat (including trash, fishing nets, and poachers), and the player can save the animal and earn points by answering trivia questions about the species
-
users are also given daily challenges to earn points, which promote protecting the environment and animals through actions like planting trees, picking up trash, etc.
